It was a tough night for Greencastle's football team Friday as the offense and the defense were both unsuccessful against Sullivan.

One big special teams play stands out for the Tiger Cubs as they lost to the Golden Arrows 59-6.

"We are just really disappointed," GHS coach Mike Meyer said. "This is probably one of the poorest games that we've been a part of."

Sullivan scored early in the game and often by way of the pass.

The Greencastle defensive backs were unable to keep up with the Sullivan receivers and the Arrows built a 32-0 halftime lead.

Greencastle did manage a fumble recovery in the first quarter but was unable to take advantage offensively.

"I know the kids are disappointed," Meyer said. "The coaches are disappointed. I've got to do a better job of getting them ready. That's when we come back this week and try to get better. That's all we can do."

Greencastle's biggest play came from Derek Ummel, who was already in at running back due to Devin Clar leaving the game with an injury.

On a kickoff return Ummel burst through the middle breaking three tackles and took off for the end zone for an 81-yard return.

Ummel played very well and at times gave the Tiger Cubs a sign a life, including a run where the junior dragged at least four plays for 10 yards in the second half.

However, Greencastle as a whole had a tough time generating momentum on either side of the ball.

"Sullivan is a good football team and we didn't play that well," Meyer said.

Greencastle (1-5, 0-3 WIC) will next play Northview on the road.
