Putnamville District conducts annual inspection, audit

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

PUTNAMVILLE -- Wednesday morning, the Indiana State Police Post at Putnamville conducted its annual inspection and audit of personnel and equipment at the ISP post on U.S.40.

Commanders inspected the appearance, commission and equipment of 66 troopers and detectives. Inspections and equipment audits are done once every year at all 14 state police districts.

During the inspection, each officer is personally inspected for proper grooming and uniform appearance. The officer's firearms are then examined for cleanliness and serviceability.

The police commission is next and is inspected for cleanliness both inside and out, as well as the trunk.

Finally, all equipment issued to the officer is accounted for and inspected. Those items include clothing, shoes, radar, computer, camera, baton, mace and any other miscellaneous equipment issued to the officer.

At the conclusion of the individual unit's inspection, the results of the inspection/audit are noted by the unit's immediate supervisor and can be placed in the individual officer's performance evaluation.

The Indiana State Police Department has a rich history in providing the best law enforcement service possible to the citizens of Indiana, officials note. To do so, the department purchases state-of-the-art equipment for each officer and then expects him or her to take the utmost care of all issued equipment.

"We are stewards of the equipment provided to us, and it is our duty as commanders to ensure these items are not only properly maintained, but accounted for as well," Putnamville District Commander Lt. Dan Jones said. "Our troopers perform excellent in this area."

Indiana State Police Logistics personnel from Indianapolis assisted with the annual inspection and audit at Putnamville.
