The Greencastle tennis team knows how to handle business and while the Tiger Cubs have no seniors they plowed through Owen Valley, Northview and South Vermillion en route to their second-straight sectional title.

"I am so happy for these guys," GHS coach Kevin Rowe said. "The fact that we are back to back sectional champions after having five of our seven varsity players graduate speaks to the amount of work these guys put in. We made Greencastle High School tennis history today."

Also advancing with his 7-5, 6-2 win is South Putnam's Josh Stewart who dispactched his opponent in No. 1 singles on Wednesday and will play in the Crawfordsville Regional next week.

"Josh faced an opponent that he had lost to earlier in the season," Eagle coach Zach Love said. "I am very impressed with how he's come along and the level that he is playing at now that we've reached the end of our season. We are waiting to hear the particulars of whom he will play next and when. It will likely be Wednesday and will be at Crawfordsville."

Wednesday GHS took down Northview, a team that had been a roadblock for quite some time. The Tiger Cubs seemed to have gotten over that hump, having beaten Knights three of the last four matches.

"Any time we play Northview, it is always a close match. We were able to come away with a great win," Rowe said. "I am very proud of the effort by the entire team, especially from Yuji Mozawa. He played some of the best tennis of his high school career. No. 1 doubles, Nathan Gobert and Elijah Lewis, continued to be the anchor of our team. They continue to pick up win after win and tonight was no exception. Sean Ramey has also turned into a great tennis player and he picked up another win for us. We have come together as a team and truly supported one another, each and every match. This was definitely a team win."

While Stewart, the Eagles' first four-year player in more than thirty years, will be moving on, the South Putnam team fell to South Vermillion.

"I had the opportunity to coach a great group of seniors this season. Dylan Drawbaugh and Jacob Lorimer contributed at No. 1 doubles for the majority of the year," Love said. "They have only been playing for a couple years at this point, but I've seen a lot of growth in both of them over time. Ian Douglass played over the last three seasons and was a great teammate throughout his time. Ian is going to join the military after high school and go on to do great things. Zach Rayce and Jordan Parks were new tennis players this season. They both played doubles and Zach saw some time with varsity early in the year. Overall, I enjoyed coaching our seniors and wish them nothing but the best in the future."

Greencastle will face the winner of the Terre Haute North sectional on Tuesday or Wednesday.

"I cannot say enough about how proud I am of these guys. We have been working hard since the beginning of summer and it's so great to see the hard work pay off for them. We will enjoy the moment and then turn our focus towards regionals next week. This was such a great win for the town and Greencastle High School Athletics."
