PUTNAMVILLE -- Abundant Life Baptist Church in Putnamville has announced that a special guest-speaker will be visiting this Sunday, Oct. 12, for its 10 a.m. service.

Currently touring throughout the country, Filipino missionary Joey Cosme will speak to the church's congregation about his missionary work throughout the world.

Cosme is pastor to and operator of a church in the Philippines called Independent Baptist Mission for Asians. He also teaches at a local Filipino elementary school and, when free from an already-busy schedule, travels the world to further his mission.

Patty Campbell of Abundant Life notified The Banner Graphic of Cosme's upcoming speech, saying she is thrilled to have him visiting again.

"(Cosme) is a wonderful pastor with a great sense of humor," Campbell said. "He comes when he can and we all donate money (to his mission). He really enjoys coming here, in fact he calls himself a 'Filipino hillbilly.'

"They really love the Lord and we always pray for them," Campbell continued, referring to Cosme's wife and four small children. "Sometimes we keep them here in our home if they need a place to stay, but they probably won't be staying with us this time, he's pretty busy."

Campbell added that Cosme is presently making stops at several churches in the United States each Sunday, including another service at a separate church later Sunday evening.

Abundant Life Baptist Church is located at 822 W. US 40, Cloverdale, or the intersection of highways U.S. 40 and SR 243 near Putnamville. The service will last for approximately one hour and will begin at 10 a.m.
