  • Question for Health Dept: Isn't 13 violations enough to shut down a restaurant? KFC managers have no concern for customers' health.

  • Banner-Graphic, thanks very much for posting this info. Very helpful for deciding where (not) to go.

Maybe the answer to Ben Dover's question is that none of the violations was all that bad (not like the ones at La Charreada with the deer and stuff). But still, I won't be visiting KFC around here.

  • Why would the health department shut a business down? The county/towns lose tax revenue when the businesses aren't open. Watch where the health inspector goes out to eat and follow in his/her footsteps. Plus if they shut down the Cloverdale KFC all of the cats by the dumpster would starve.

  • CdaleResident, maybe they could shut the GC ONE down for awhile so they can clean it! Black mold, dirt everywhere it sounds like. I'll adopt the cats from Cloverdale.

  • As owner of the local Pizza King, I would like to set our record straight. Recently the Health Dept. came in for the semi-annual inspection (noted above). The violations noted were challenged with several Health Dept employees to no avail. We have been inspected several times prior and were told no hair restraints were required with no violations noted until this visit. However, it is now implemented and required. As for the food temps, the Health Dept has changed the way they measure temperatures, from surface testing to probing. Our equipment is working properly, has thermometers installed, as in the past, no errors were found when I asked them to come back and retest. It was apparent their probing equipment had issues as they recorded multiple readings on the same item. Nonetheless, we have turned our equipment temp down further, well below the acceptable limit. My recommendation is simple. If you're going to change the way you test, please let us know. What was acceptable in the past is no longer, and please calibrate your test equipment.

  • The health dept should have to provide upon request the current calibration certificate for their temp probe. A few degrees one way or the other could mean a big loss in business. As for KFC.....well, the folks at other places in town are able to keep up with cleaning even though they fry lots of chicken. Hopefully the district manager or franchise owner will know of these violations and do the right thing by cleaning it up. I do not eat there, as it has looked sketchy for some time. Are these considered critical violations of health code, or just nuisances?

  • I CONSIDER BLACK MOLD IN MULTIPLE PLACES AS A SERIOUS VIOLATION. NO MORE KFC IN PUTNAM COUNTY FOR ME.

  • In my opinion, the Greencastle Pizza King is one of the cleanest restaurants in town. Almost Home is another. I'm not connected with the owners in any way but appreciate the time, effort and pride they take in their businesses. Greencastle KFC has been a no go for me for us for a while.

  • This is awful. I worked at KFC 30 years ago, and cleanliness was our top priority! We scrubbed everything down nightly, pulled out the fryers and cleaned behind them regularly, cleaned vent hoods regularly, and monitored temperatures on everything. Sounds like those days are long past. Surely the Poindexters don't still own the Cloverdale store or it wouldn't be in that condition.
