Ann Christine Powell, 75, of Lafayette, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 at Rosewalk Village in Lafayette.

She was born July 13, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Martin and Thelma Hough.

She received her BA from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.

On Aug.5, 1982 she married Timothy A. Powell in Crawfordsville. He survives.

Ann had been a substitute teacher, worked at Head Start and ran an in-home daycare.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and enjoyed reading and taking care of children.

Surviving along with her husband are four daughters, Kimberly George of Oak Park, Ill., Pamela Sparger (Shannon) of Lafayette, Stephanie Paxton (Larry) of Elkridge, Md., and Lynaya Powell of Lafayette; two sons, Peter George (Janice) of Portales, N.M., and Christopher George of Crawfordsville; a foster son, Russell Crosby (Tina) of Greencastle; two stepdaughters, Suzanne Mikel (Mark) of Georgia and Michele Sexton (Gary) of Silver Springs, Fla.; a stepson, Richard Powell (Suzie) of Crawfordsville, a brother, Paul Hough (Ingrid), and a sister, Andrea Hough, both of Geneva, Ill. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jean McKell.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 600 Ferry St. Lafayette, IN 47901 with Fr. Bradley Pace officiating.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may donate to the Jubilee Christmas Fund at St. John Episcopal Church.
