City Police

Four recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 12:38 a.m. Tuesday, Officer Kyle Lee made a pair of arrests after a traffic stop on Shadowlawn Avenue.

Natalie Floyd, 32, Reelsville, was arrested and lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

At the same time, Nicholas Ritz, 26, Reelsville, was arrested and lodged in the jail for possession of paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license with a prior offense.

Ritz was also ticketed for having a false or fictitious registration.

-- At 2:30 a.m. Monday, Michael Malone, 47, Indianapolis, was arrested by Reserve Officer Billy Wallace.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail after his arrest at Indianapolis Road and Capital Drive, Malone is facing charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

-- At noon Sunday, Clint Byrd, 19, Greencastle, was arrested at a South Arlington Street residence by Capt. Chris Jones.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Byrd is facing charges of resisting law enforcement and two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.

Byrd was arrested on a Putnam County warrant stemming from original charges of disorderly conduct and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Seven recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 11:45 p.m. Monday, Brendon Casey, 34, Rockville, was ticketed by Officer Lee.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Casey was cited for having an expired license plate (Sept. 21, 2014).

-- At 4 p.m. Oct. 9, Jackie Rinberger III, 38, Greencastle, was cited by Capt. Jones.

Stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue, Rinberger was ticketed for a seatbelt violation.

-- At 4 p.m. Oct. 9, Dixie Mason, 18, Greencastle, was ticketed by Capt. Jones.

Stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue, Mason was cited for a seatbelt violation.

-- At 12:10 p.m. Oct. 9, Earl Brummett Jr., 42, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Nick Eastham.

Stopped along Avenue B, Brummett was ticketed for unreasonable speed.

-- At 10 a.m. Oct. 9, Joshua Akins, 25, Greencastle, was cited by Capt. Jones.

Stopped on East Franklin Street, Akins was ticketed for having an expired license plate (Feb. 7, 2015).

-- At 9:30 Oct. 9, Nikki Robinson, 36, Brazil, received a pair of citations from Capt. Jones.

Stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue, Robinson was issued tickets for speeding and an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department assisted with one medical call and responded to several other dispatches recently.

* At 10:11 a.m. Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St., caused by hair care products.

* At 4:29 p.m. Saturday, GFD assisted with a motor vehicle accident on Washington Street. The department cleaned fluids from the road.

* At 4:34 p.m. Saturday, GFD cleared limbs from the roadway at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Bloomington Street.

* At 6:08 p.m. Saturday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St., caused by burned food.

* At 8:47 p.m. Saturday, a pull station was activated at 807 S. College Ave.

* At 10:22 p.m. Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 1 Taylor Place. The alarm was due to a faulty detector head.

* At 10:41 p.m. Saturday, GFD returned to 1 Taylor Place to investigate another fire alarm. The issue was caused by a fog machine activating detectors on multiple floors.

* At 7:24 p.m. Sunday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 904 S. College Ave. The alarm was caused by cooking popcorn.

* At 11:27 p.m. Sunday, GFD cleaned a transmission fluid spill in the road in front of 1285 W. Walnut St.

* At 12:20 a.m. Monday, GFD responded to a mulch fire in front of 18 S. Jackson St. The department had the smoldering embers in the mulch bed extinguished within minutes.

* At 4:38 p.m. Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at Tzouanakis Intermediate School, 500 Linwood Dr. School maintenance working on the system caused an accidental set off.

* At 6:59 p.m. Monday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St., which was caused by hair care products.
