A two-vehicle accident on U.S. 231 Thursday afternoon sent two people to Putnam County Hospital with minor injuries.

At 2:46 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to U.S. 231 in front of West Central Contracting, just south of Waterworks Hill, for a collision.

Sgt. Gregg Slover of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department told the Banner Graphic that Megan Farmer, 21, Greencastle, was southbound in a Ford Focus when Caleb Nelson, 17, Greencastle, pulled out of the parking lot of West Central Contracting in a Toyota Tacoma.

Both drivers advised Slover they did not see the other. The front of Farmer's vehicle collided with the left front wheel area of Nelson's pickup truck.

Both airbags deployed in Farmer's car.

Following airbag deployment, both Farmer and her passenger, 22-year-old Rhaine Cluggish of Greencastle, complained of head pain. Operation Life transported both to Putnam County Hospital for evaluation.

Both vehicles were towed. Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

Slover was assisted at the scene by Officer Nick Eastham of the Greencastle Police Department. Greencastle Fire Department provided medical assistance and cleanup at the scene.
