OT goal keeps Depauw soccer perfect in NCAC

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Mitch Reavis delivered the game-winning goal in overtime and lifted DePauw to a 3-2 overtime victory at Wittenberg.

DePauw, ranked 17th by D3soccer.com and 19th in the coaches' poll, improved to 9-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while Wittenberg dropped to 3-9-2 overall and 4-0 in the NCAC.

Reavis' game-winner came with just 2:24 left in the first extra period and was the lone shot for either team in the overtime.

Wittenberg took a 1-0 lead on Patrick Szymczak's goal at 19:34 and that lead stood at halftime. Jonathan Wheeler evened the match at 1-1 with a score at 54:42.

Just less than three minutes later, Cameron Ferguson gave the hosts a 2-1 advantage, but Adrian Ables forced the overtime with a score at 73:49.

DePauw held a 21-11 edge in shots including a 9-6 margin in shots on goal. The visiting Tigers also held an 11-5 edge in corners, while Wittenberg had 13 fouls to DePauw's 11.

Chris Yount recorded four saves in the win for DePauw with Wittenberg's Hunter Bock stopping six shots.

DePauw travels to Wooster on Saturday, October 17, for a Noon NCAC contest with the Fighting Scots.
