Humane Society to host open house at shelter

Sunday, October 18, 2015

The Humane Society of Putnam County has announced an open house at the reopened county shelter, located off State Road 240 east of Greencastle.

Months of hard work and dedication have paid off and it is now time to celebrate, HSPC officials said in inviting the pubic to attend.

The shelter's open house will be conducted noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.

The open house is an opportunity for individuals to come and see all of the improvements made to make reopening the shelter a reality.

There will be several activities taking place during the event, including guided tours will be available for visitors to see the entire shelter; a bounce house, glitter tattoos, games and more will be available for younger shelter supporters to enjoy.

Hots dogs and refreshments will be available for purchase. All of the proceeds will go to the Humane Society.

"We are very excited to welcome the county to the shelter for a fun day of touring, education, family fun and meeting those animals currently ready for adoption," HSPC Board President Sandy Grimes said.

For more information, the shelter office can be reached at 653-1943 or at hspcanimals.org and at Rescued Treasures, 653-7174.

For animal-related calls, persons should contact Putnam County Dispatch at 653-5115 or dial 911 for emergencies.
