Sunday, October 18, 2015

All sixth- to eighth-graders who love Halloween are invited to enjoy some spooky fun when the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department hosts a Hunt for the Great Pumpkin.

The Halloween-meets-Easter event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 starting at 7:30 p.m. from shelterhouse No. 1 (on the hill above the bandshell) at Robe-Ann Park.

Hidden within Robe-Ann Park will be 3,000 Halloween-colored (orange and black) eggs

Children in grades 6-8 will have the chance to hunt the prize eggs with flashlights. Some will be candy-filed, some toy-filled and some will have a prize within them.

Cost is $10 per person to participate and to search for eggs and look for the special redemption tickets inside for prizes.

Registration forms for the Hunt for the Great Pumpkin are available at the Putnam County Public Library and Greencastle Pediatric Dentistry office. If you cannot find them there, stop by the Greencastle City Hall at 1 N. Locust St., where registrations can also be dropped off.

For more information persons may contact Philip Cornelius at the Parks and Recreation Department at 653-3395 or by email at rweinschenk@cityofgreencastle.com.
