Sunday, October 25, 2015

Putnam County Public Library will be offering three computer classes in November.

On Thursday, Nov. 5, from noon to 2 p.m., Introduction to Spreadsheets will introduce patrons to spreadsheet software by creating and editing spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel. The class will discuss cheaper and free alternatives to Microsoft.

On Thursday, Nov. 12, from noon to 2 p.m., Advanced Spreadsheets will cover some of the more advanced features of spreadsheet software.

On Thursday, Nov. 19, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., the Tablets and Smartphones class is for those who need help with a new smartphone or tablet, or are considering making a purchase. The class will focus on the different types of devices available, including the Apple iPad, Microsoft Windows tablets, Android-based Google tablets and smartphones. Attendees will learn basic skills needed to connect to the Internet, as well as how to take pictures and videos, use interactive maps, install applications and games, listen to music and watch movies.

There will also be a demonstration on how to download free content from the library's website, including eBooks, and audiobooks.

All classes are for beginners, are free and open to the public but registration is required because space is limited. Classes are two hours long with a break. To sign up you can visit the library website at pcpl21.org, call Mike Acsbok at 653-2755 Ext. 118 or stop by the circulation or reference desks at the library.
