Delbert R. Cox, 74, of Brazil, passed away at his home Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 following a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 30, 1940, in Putnam County, the son of Abner and Opal (Dickey) Cox.

Delbert graduated from Greencastle High School with the class of 1958.

Delbert worked as a meat cutter for Kroger in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1995.

Delbert was an active member of the Moose and the Eagles. He was also a member of the Clay Youth League and the Marine Corps League.

In his free time he enjoyed participating in the HAM Radio Club, bowling, playing shuffle board, watching NASCAR and dancing. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abner and Opal Cox; two wives, Shirley Ann Cox and Debra Cox; and a son, Brian Cox.

He is survived by his children, Brad Cox, Billie Jo Thompson and husband William Todd of Terre Haute, Barry Cox and wife Stacey of Kentucky; two stepchildren, Christopher Cox and wife Lori and Karen Tedder; and in Delbert's words, "a bunch" of grandkids.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, Brazil, from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Brattain officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
