County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 4:45 p.m. on Monday, Alana Dawn Mink, 21, Danville, was arrested for domestic battery.

* At 5:09 a.m. Tuesday, Courtney Donte Lange, 37, Indianapolis, was charged with domestic battery.

At 5:30 a.m. Ryan Neil Carel, 24, Russellville, was booked in for neglect of a dependent.

At 6:10 p.m. Alfonzo Dwight Johnson, 36, Indianapolis, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and possession of a synthetic drug.

At 8:08 p.m. Shane Allan Stinson, 51, Reelsville, was lodged at the jail for invasion of privacy.

* At 1:54 p.m. Wednesday, Christopher Robert Gainor, 32, Heron, Mich., was charged with nonsupport of a dependent.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 1:22 a.m. Thursday, Kyle Thomas Ordway, 23, Greencastle, was stopped by Officer Kyle Lee at 10th Street and Ridgeland Road because of a defective license plate light.

Upon investigation, Ordway was discovered to be allegedly in possession of contraband and was booked into the Putnam County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of paraphernalia.

* At 2:46 a.m. Tuesday, Bruce Mendenhall, 51, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Elsiana Crosby.

Taken into custody at a Hillsdale Avenue residence, Mendenhall was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a charge of domestic battery.

Meanwhile, one recent citation was issued by city officers.

* At 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, Madonna Gose, 68, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Josh Smith.

Stopped on South Indiana Street, Gose was ticketed for an expired license plate (May 14, 2015).

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies have responded to one recent auto accident.

* At 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Sharon Roberts, 67, Fillmore, was eastbound on Albin Pond Road, stopped at County Road 100 East in a 2008 Toyota Yaris.

Roberts told Deputy Jacob Harrington she was trying to turn south on County Road 100 East but encountered a glare from the sun on her windshield. She stopped and her vehicle was rear-ended by the car behind her.

The second driver, Cory O'Neal, 18, Greencastle, said he also encountered the glare and could not see that Roberts' car had stopped, rear-ending it with his 2002 Honda Accord.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

Lt. Donnie Pettit assisted at the scene.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department assisted with one medical run and responded to three other dispatches recently.

* At 5:42 p.m. Tuesday, GFD responded to an unauthorized burn at 122 Martinsville St. A resident new to the area was unaware of the burn ordinance.

* At 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, GFD assisted a resident at 803 E. Franklin St. with shutting off the water to secure a leak in the basement.

* At 6:13 p.m. Wednesday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 107 W. Hanna St. The alarm was caused by cooking.
