Ivy Tech Spartan Match

Monday, November 9, 2015

Six Greencastle High School students recently placed in the Ivy Tech Community College 2015 Spartan Match. The annual contest challenges students in the areas of technology and engineering, including fashioning items together to create a mousetrap racer, building a marshmallow tower with uncooked spaghetti and other projects.

Jacob Crawley, Nathan Gobert and Craig Helmers took first place in the Bridge To Knowledge competition. They were challenged to build a bridge with a limited amount of popsicle sticks. Their bridge withstood more than double that of the second place team.

Meanwhile, Lokysa Scheuermann, Rylan Lucas and Eli Taylor placed second in the Zip-Tie competition. Provided with a limited amount of materials, the group designed a container to keep an egg safe as it traveled from a high point on a zip line to a low point where it came to an abrupt stop.
