SPMS takes down Cougars in season opener

The South Putnam eighth grade boys took the hardwood Monday night for their season opener at North Putnam. The Eagles came out with a fast-paced start, pressuring the Cougars to take a 17-0 first quarter.

The Cougars battled back to make the score 23-10 at the half. The second half started with the Eagles applying pressure. The Eagles kept with the pressure into the end of the third quarter and sealing the game with a 44-18 win.

Kain Gregory led the Eagles with 10 points. Braedan Blue and Jackson Wood earned nine points each.

Austin Haines scored seven. Tanner Pistelli had three and Karl Egold, Noah Hatton and Lanceance Bush chipped in two each.

Jalen Berry led the Cougars with 10 points. Dakota Lanthrop had five points and Lucias Alexander scored three points.
