The DePauw Horn Ensemble and Trombone Choir's annual fall concert opens with "Ricercare," a cheerful antiphonal fanfare by Gabrieli. Also included on this program is Nelhybel's "Tower Music," a reference to the Gabrieli tradition of antiphonal brass music; the Bach Fugue in G Minor, masterfully arranged by DPU School of Music student, James Grundke; and Barber's "Adagio," his most famous work, originally written for strings. Come hear how beautifully it has been transcribed. Enjoy and compare!

The DePauw University Jazz Ensemble invites a very special guest to the stage on Wednesday -- the Greencastle Middle School Jazz Band. The GMS Jazz Band will open the set with two numbers, followed by the DePauw ensemble featuring the music of Count Basie, Bob Mintzer, George Stone, Matt Harris and Rob McConnell.

The DePauw Percussion ensemble, with co-directors Bonnie Whiting and visiting percussionist Allen Otte, will present a diverse evening of music featuring marimbas and drums. Hear toe-tapping music by Qu Xiao-Song and Christopher Rouse, traditional folk music from Chiapas, new music from emerging Seattle composer Nat Evans and an immersive work for text, electronics and sound by Christopher Burns.

With its rich and varied history of original works and transcriptions, the University Band presents six pieces that feature the versatility of the ensemble musicians. Its program includes "Fanfare for Fenway" by John Williams; Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein; a tribute to Vietnam veterans, "Heroes, Lost and Fallen," by David Gillingham; "Teddy Trombone" by Henry Fillmore, featuring the University Band's trombone section; "In Evening's Stillness" by Joseph Schwantner; and the classic band work, "Lincolnshire Posy," by Percy Grainger.
The ensemble invites all audience members to bring one or more non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry. Any audience member presenting a food item to the box office will receive a free ticket to the University Band's performance.
