Local potter opens studio to public Dec. 5- 6

FILLMORE -- Local potter Scott Cooper has been selling his handmade wares in Putnam County for more than 15 years. The weekend of Dec. 5-6 he will open his studio to the public for the annual St. Earth Pottery holiday sale, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It will feature more than 300 pots, each one individually thrown, decorated, glazed and fired.

Cooper makes a variety of forms, including mugs, bowls, plates, pitchers, vases, covered jars and more. They are finished in a range of styles and glazes. All can be used for food, drinks, storage and display.

Cooper has been making hand-crafted, functional pottery for more than 20 years, since first learning how to throw on the potters' wheel as a student at the University of Iowa. His work has been featured in major ceramics exhibits, national magazines, and is used daily in homes and kitchens from Putnam County to all around the world.

The pottery is located just north of Fillmore, approximately 15 minutes from Greencastle.
