The weekend was full of Putnam County basketball with six of the eight teams in action Saturday.

The Greencastle girls bounced back after just their third loss of the season. The Lady Tiger Cubs beat Monrovia at McAnally 48-30. GHS had control on the scoreboard for the entire game and led 24-15 at halftime. GHS now sits atop the WIC West Division with best record in the conference at 14-3.

The Greencastle boys kept their hot streak alive winning their fourth-straight game in dramatic fashion 74-73.

The game was tied at 18 after one quarter and the intensity never turned down as a back a forth game went into the fourth quarter with a 53-53 tie. The Tiger Cubs like many Indiana teams this weekend were playing their second game in less than 24 hours but took the challenge and earned the win in the fourth. Ryan Coble dropped 45 points on the Bulldogs, a career-high for the senior.

The Lady Tiger Cubs (14-3, 3-1 WIC) will play their WIC Western Division rival South Vermillion (4-12, 0-4 WIC). The GHS (6-4, 2-2 WIC) boys' team will also next play at its WIC Western Division rival South Vermillion (2-11, 1-3 WIC) on Friday.

The North Putnam boys' team fell on the road at North Vermillion 68-44. The Cougars have lost three since the Monrovia Tournament and on Friday NPHS (3-10, 0-3 WIC) will face Monrovia (4-6) in Roachdale.

The South Putnam boys' team had a tough time at home against Edgewood Saturday after the 58-49 loss to Sullivan. The Eagles lost 67-34 to the Mustangs in the non-conference matchup. The Eagles (1-8, 0-4 WIC) will be taking on its WIC West Division rival Northview (6-5, 3-1 WIC) Friday. The Eagle Ladies also played Sullivan Friday and 58-42. South Putnam (9-6, 1-3 WIC) is back at home Tuesday, after its two-game road trip, this time against Riverton Parke (16-3).
