County Jail

Four people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 2 p.m. on Thursday, Kyle Alan McCammon, 27, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for violation of home detention.

* At 12:35 a.m. on Friday, Sean Patrick McMann, 33, Bainbridge, was booked in for driving with a suspended license.

At 4:15 a.m. Logan Paige White, 18, Brazil, was housed at the jail for battery and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

At 4:30 a.m. Damon Orion Sutherlin, 23, no city listed, was taken into custody for battery.

City Police

Five recent citations were issued by city officers.

* At 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Alexis Burk, 18, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Kyle Lee.

Stopped at Arlington Street and Terrace Lane, Burk was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

* At 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, Travis Brandenburg, 19, Greencastle, was ticketed by Reserve Officer Billy Wallace.

Stopped on Veterans Memorial Highway, Brandenburg was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

* At 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Carol Haney, 64, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Eastham.

Stopped on Washington Street at College Avenue, Haney was cited for an expired license plate (Oct. 28, 2015).

* At 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Levi Abney, 22, Plainfield, was cited by Officer Lee.

Stopped on Vale Street, Abney was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

* At 11:48 a.m. Saturday, Robert Ridener, 19, Clayton, was cited by Officer Lee.

As a result of a traffic stop at Washington Street and Percy Julian Drive, Ridener was cited for possession of marijuana.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County sheriff's deputies responded to two recent auto accidents.

* At 3:10 p.m. on Sunday, Elijah C. Nicholls, 20, Fillmore, was eastbound on County Road 25 North in 1998 GMC Jimmy.

Nicholls told Capt. Steve Fenwick he applied his brakes and lost control on snow and ice. The vehicle then spun around, with the driver's side making contact with an earthen embankment.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

* At 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, Kyal A. Campbell, 24, Coatesville, was westbound on U.S. 40 in the Mt. Meridian area in a 2003 Ford Taurus.

He told Deputy Mike Downing he lost control due the icy conditions. The car spun out of control, crossing over the eastbound lanes and into a ditch, hitting a concrete culvert head on. The vehicle came to rest off of the south side of the road, facing north.

Campbell was not injured.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000. The car was towed.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to six dispatches and five medical assists.

* At 9:11 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St. An alarm had been wrongly activated on the second floor.

* At 1:48 a.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a malice alarm at 807 S. College Ave. A resident had accidentally set off a fire extinguisher.

* At 3:29 a.m. on Friday, GFD assisted in a mutual-aid structure fire at Van Bibber Lake. GFD assisted Van Bibber Fire Department and cleared the scene at 7:10 a.m.

* At 9:46 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 420 Anderson St. An alarm had been set off by cooking on the first floor.

* At 10:17 a.m. on Friday, GFD assisted in the extinguishing of a structure fire at 1144 W. CR 25 South. The cause of the fire is unknown. The structure was in the midst of remodeling, no injuries were reported as the house is currently vacant. Multiple departments assisted -- Reelsville, Fillmore, Madison Township, Cloverdale and Greencastle fire departments.

* At 12:49 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a hazmat call at 413 Anderson St. No hazardous materials were found by GFD.
