Multiple departments respond to house fire

Friday, January 15, 2016

The Greencastle Fire Department, as well as crews from the Reelsville, Fillmore, Madison Township and Cloverdale departments, responded to a structure fire early Friday morning.

First receiving a call at 10:17 a.m., GFD assisted the extinguishing of a blaze that took nearly three hours to extinguish.

GFD Lt. Brock Beebe spoke briefly with the Banner Graphic Friday, saying no estimate of damage has yet been determined.

"The home was going through renovations at the time, so there were no occupants and no injuries," Beebe said.

The actual cause of the fire is unknown and officials were not able to immediately estimate the cost of damage.

The home, located at 1144 W. CR 25 South, lies about a quarter-mile west of US 231 on Doc James Road (a.k.a. 25 South).

Fire Chief John Burgess was not immediately available for comment.
