WIC girls' crossover game scheduled

Monday, January 18, 2016

On Friday the Western Indiana Conference will hold its crossover games in girls' basketball, meaning the four Putnam County teams will be in action. The WIC Western Division will travel to its WIC Eastern Division rival with the two best conference records playing for the title game.

Tiebreakers are chosen by who has the biggest margins of victory in the conference games. This means while Greencastle (16-3, 4-1 WIC) has the best overall record in the WIC, it will play in the third-place game at Owen Valley (11-8, 4-1 WIC) due to its 15-point loss against Northview.

Northview (10-8, 4-1 WIC) will face Edgewood (13-8, 4-1 WIC) in the WIC championship. Cloverdale (6-13, 1-4 WIC) and South Putnam (9-8, 1-4 WIC) will square off in Clover Country for the ninth-place game and North Putnam (3-15, 0-5 WIC) will host South Vermillion (4-15, 0-5 WIC) for 11th place.

  • Tiebreakers should never be decided by offensive stats. You're rewarding teams for running up the score. The first tiebreaker should be points allowed.
