City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to 10 dispatches and two medical assists.

* At 10:12 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a structure fire at Van Bibber Lake, Section Three. GFD, as well as multiple departments from around the area, were disregarded en route due to the fire affecting only a small shed.

* At 11:33 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a gasoline spill reported at 405 N. Jackson St. GFD assisted in the cleanup of a spilled container of gasoline.

* At 10:32 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at DePauw Nature Park. An air-handler malfunction was determined to be the problem and set off the alarm unnecessarily.

* At 12:54 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident that resulted in extrication of the passenger at 628 E. Walnut St. A vehicle was found upside down and the passenger, while not severely stuck, was in need of assistance to exit the vehicle.

* At 1:58 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St. but was disregarded en route.

* At 2:17 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a pull station-fire alarm at 800 S. Locust St. on the campus of DePauw University. GFD was disregarded en route, however.

* At 6:26 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident resulting in injury at the intersection of SR 240 and Percy Julian Dr. near Greencastle Middle School. Four vehicles were involved. GFD assisted in patient care and the cleanup of debris.

* At 4:26 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. The alarm had been set off due to cooking.

* At 4:01 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 201 E. Washington St. The source of the alarm was determined to be unknown.

* At 3:14 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 225 S. Bloomington St. A frozen pipe had burst, causing the alarm.
