Amateur service offers free Ham radio starting Feb. 9

The local Amateur Radio Emergency Service/Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service will be offering free Ham

Radio classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. starting Feb. 9 and running to March 24.

Classes will be held at the Putnam County Emergency Operation Center, 1600 W. CR 225 S. in Greencastle.

Students will become technicians or receive general or extra licensing through the American Radio Relay League course.

A test will be given on March 24, and there is no cost for the test or the course.
