Greencastle's Mallary Meyer won't be making the trip to the IUPUI natatorium alone Friday as her Tiger Shark teammate and fellow soccer player Amelia Smith will make the trip with her, but Meyer will be the only local swimmer at the IHSAA State meet as she took the sectional title at Avon on Saturday in the 100-butterfly.

Seeded 26th Meyer earned the blue ribbon with her time of 59.11 in the fly and will be looking to improve that time in Indianapolis.

The Tiger Sharks' season may be over but the GHS swimmers are still hitting the water with a business-as-usual attitude, showing support for their sectional champion.

Though Meyer was the only athlete moving on from the Avon sectional she was not alone in her celebration Saturday.

She anchored the 200-freestyle relay team with Amelia Smith, Grace Gillen and Corrie Romer to help break the record set last season by Meyer herself, Romer, Smith and Cecilia Pohlar.

The meet will begin at the Natatorium at 6 p.m. on Friday.
