Have-a-Heart pays it forward at Lee benefit
After outstanding support from the community at the Feb. 6 Have-a-Heart fundraiser, a short-term goal of the organization -- and part of the organization's mission statement "To support those in our community who suffer a "Heart Event" -- has become a reality.
A resident of the local community, Bill Lee of Reelsville, recently suffered a massive heart attack and underwent open-heart surgery. Lee is on the road to recovery, however, he has not been released to return to work.
Have-a-Heart, a local program spearheaded by Jeff Rich of Cloverdale who suffered his own heart attack in December 2104, was able to assist with some of Lee's financial needs by making a monetary donation during his community fundraiser, conducted Friday, Feb. 12 at the Reelsville Fire Department.
It marks the first donation of this kind by the newly organized Have-a-Heart fundraiser organization.
Organizers are planning to announce other ways that the funds raised by the Friends of Have-a-Heart, will be used in the Putnam County community very soon.
"Be sure and watch local papers and social media for updates and announcements in the near future," Rich said. "And thank you to the 'Friends of Have-a-Heart' for making dreams become realities in our community."
