Charlene Ann Nichols

Charlene Ann Nichols, 76, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

Born Sept. 27, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of Charles and Eleanor (Vandergrift) Graf.

She was a 1957 graduate of Haddon Heights High School in New Jersey.

Survivors include her husband, Dallas W. Nichols; daughter, Patricia Page-Tyree and husband, Brian; stepchildren Terry Nichols and wife, Kim, Debbie Prather and husband, Bruce, and Beth Baker and husband, Steve; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Charlene served as superintendent of the Greencastle Wastewater Treatment Plant for 29 years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

She was very active with the Putnam County Fair having exhibited flowers and vegetables in Harris Hall for more than 30 years. She was also active in 4-H Horse and Pony and Dog shows.

Charlene was also a co-founder of the Humane Society of Putnam County.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment will follow at Fillmore Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
