With completion scheduled for Oct. 31, construction continues at Hoover Hall, the new 48,600-square-foot DePauw University dining hall changing the face of the Hanna Street area in the center of campus. Hoover Hall, under construction on the north side of Hanna, will replace the current "Hub," a food-court-style dining hall in the Union Building, and serve as the primary dining space for freshmen and upper-class students living in university housing. This month, the construction crew will build the steps from Burkhart Walk to the west side of the new facility. The new hall will seat more than 600 students in the main dining room, with dozens more able to dine together in an array of smaller rooms. Hoover Hall is being made possible by gifts from DePauw alumni, led by R. David and Suzanne A. Hoover (both 1967 graduates) who provided the major gift supporting construction and will see the building named in their honor.
