Fred M. Sargent

Fred M. Sargent, 92, formerly of Cloverdale, passed away at his home in Plainfield on Monday, March 14, 2016.

Born Oct. 19, 1923 in Linton, he was the son of Hubert M. and Rose A. (West) Sargent.

He married Ruth E. (Jansen) Sargent on Feb. 1, 1975, and she survives.

He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps.

He was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lori R. Collins and partner Mary Bazan, Plainfield, and daughter, Martha Hutcheson and husband Ralph, Indianapolis; sons Jeff Sargent, Peoria, Ariz., and Jeff Webb, Miami, Fla.; grandchildren Sara Wiley and husband Craig, Emily Watkins and husband Matthew, and great-grandchildren Reese and Gray Wiley; Sienna, Natalya and Matthew James Watkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna F. Sargent, and brothers Jim "Jay" Sargent and Gerald "Jerry" Sargent.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at the Plainfield United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

Interment will be at the Cloverdale Cemetery following services.
