Middle school county underway
The South Putnam seventh- and eighth-grade girls' basketball teams swept the North Putnam Cougars in the opening round of the county tournament at South Putnam High School.
The Eagle seventh-graders won 39-10 to advance to the championship game.
The Lady Eagle eighth grade used a 9-0 run to open the game en route to a 29-18 victory.
Dana Tennis led the Cougars with seven points. Baylee Osburn scored six, Clarissa Gibson added three and Hannah Sims chipped in two points.
At Greencastle Middle School it was Greencastle taking the win against Cloverdale in the seventh-grade game. The Lady Tiger Cubs maintained control through the contest winning 37-6 in the first game at GMS.
Cloverdale's eighth-grade team won its game against Greencastle 60-7, moving to 13-0 on the season.
The times will travel to North Putnam for the championship games on Thursday night starting at 6 p.m. The Eagle seventh-graders will play against Greencastle while the Eagle eighth-grade team will take on the undefeated Cloverdale team.
