Tiger swimmers honored at season's end

DePauw senior Blake Lehmann capped off his collegiate career with an honorable mention all-America performance in the 100-yard freestyle at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.

Lehmann, who tied for 10th in the prelims in 44.88 seconds, finished 13th in the finals in 45.01 seconds. in the four-day Championships he also collected all-America honors with a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly and an eighth-place showing in the 50 free.

Earlier in the prelims, Mitchell Davis was 31st in the 200 breaststroke in 2:06.92, while the 400 free relay of Kurt Swieter, Adam Pircon, Alex Grissom and Lehmann was 19th in 3:04.53.

As a team, the Tiger men totaled 45 points and finished 22nd.

DePauw junior Angela Newlon collected her second all-America honor at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships as she finished third in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Newlon, who was fourth in the 500 free on Wednesday, finished in 16:42.48 for the third all-America award of her career and third top-four finish.

In Sunday's trials, DePauw's 400 free relay of Caroline Bridges, Mary Woods, Kirsten Olson and Newlon was 25th in 3:31.49.

As a team, the Lady Tigers totaled 39 points and finished 19th.

One individual and a relay came away with honorable mention all-America accolades today on the third of four days of the NCAA Division III Championships.

The 800-yard freestyle relay of Blake Lehmann, Kurt Swieter, Adam Pircon and Alex Grissom finished 12th in 6:44.43.

Mitchell Davis turned in a 15th-place performance in the 100 breaststroke in 56.23 seconds after going 56.01 in the prelims.
