Ivy Tech to host March 31 information session about new ASAP program

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Ivy Tech Community College is hosting a parent and community information session March 31 about the launch of the Associate Accelerated program (ASAP) at the Greencastle campus.

The session is slated for 6-8 p.m. at the Greencastle campus, located at 915 Zinc Mill Rd. Ivy Tech representatives will provide details about ASAP during the event and answer any questions parents and members of the community may have.

The program provides wraparound support from mentors and peers, giving students the support they need to complete a degree in just one year. ASAP students can also take advantage of Ivy Tech's tuition costs, the lowest in the state.

After completion of the program, students can transfer their credits to a four-year school, where they can finish a bachelor's degree in just two more years. The bottom line -- ASAP helps students earn their degree and transition into a bachelor's degree with less debt and more support.

Ivy Tech recently named Amanda Ostoich ASAP coordinator for its Greencastle campus. The March 31 meeting will allow Ostoich to speak with parents and community members about the program and its benefits.

ASAP has gained national attention for its success rates. Sixty-nine percent of ASAP students earn a degree in just one year and after one year 98 percent of students persist to earn their bachelor's degree or a second associate degree.

Questions about the March 31 event may directed to Ostoich at aostoich@ivytech.edu or 719-6015.

Ivy Tech Community College is the state's largest public postsecondary institution and the nation's largest singly accredited statewide community college system with campuses throughout Indiana, including Greencastle.
