Jillian Henry

An estimated 46.2 million Americans live in poverty. It can be difficult for those who have enough to understand the situations people in poverty experience every day.

The April Nonprofit Learning Series workshop, sponsored by the Putnam County Community Foundation and the Montgomery County Community Foundation, will feature Jillian Henry who will guide participants through a poverty simulation.

The workshop will take place April 12 at the Crawfordsville Country Club from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost of the workshop is $15 if registered and paid by April 5 or $25 at the door. Space is limited.

Henry is the regional director for the Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network.

She provides training and development workshops as well as consultation and facilitation to nonprofit organizations and their boards throughout the state of Indiana. The workshop provides participants the opportunity to assume the role of a low-income family member living on a limited budget.

The Nonprofit Learning Series is designed to enrich and advance nonprofit associations, organizations, churches and units of government.

The cost includes the workshop, a catered lunch and all workshop materials.

To register or for more information visit the Putnam County Community Foundation website at www.pcfoundation.org, call 653-4978, or email Elaine Peck, executive director, at epeck@pcfoundation.org.

  • Why does it seem weird to read about a poverty simulation at a country club which includes a catered lunch?
