BRAZIL -- Formal charges were filed Monday in Clay County against the 39-year-old Putnam County man charged with robbing the First Financial Bank in Brazil.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Clay Superior Court, Bryan E. Anderson, 39, Coatesville, entered the Brazil bank on U.S. 40 just before closing time last Friday and passed a threatening note to a teller.

In the note, he reportedly demanded $22,000 in cash and told the teller he had a gun.

The note also specified that if the money were given to him, everything would be

all right.

Getting away, however, with only an estimated $1,800, Anderson then fled the scene, heading east on U.S. 40 in a black Chevrolet pickup truck conspicuous by having no registration plate.

About 15-20 minutes later, Indiana State Police Trooper James Crisp spotted the suspect vehicle at U.S. 40 and US. 231 in Putnam County just after 6 p.m.

Anderson, who officials at the State Police Post in Putnamville officials said lives in the Heritage Lake area, also matched the description of the robbery suspect and was pulled over for a

traffic stop.

The suspect was later arrested without incident. He was turned over to officers of the Brazil City Police and transported to the Clay County Jail.

Anderson was booked on preliminary charges of robbery and theft with a $15,000 cash bond with no 10 percent allowed to await further court proceedings.

However, Anderson was bonded out Monday morning. A date for his preliminary appearance in Clay Superior Court has yet to be scheduled.
