Raj Bellani, Dean of Experiential Learning

Rajesh "Raj" N. Bellani, who has served as dean of experiential learning and career planning at DePauw University since July 2012, has been appointed assistant to the president for strategic initiatives at Denison University, effective July 16.

"It's been a wonderful opportunity to launch DePauw's Hubbard Center for Student Engagement and to a powerful platform to help students get an early start on planning their post-graduate lives," Bellani said. "I've also come to love DePauw and will miss my many friends here."

Before coming to DePauw, Bellani was associate provost and dean of students and special assistant for international initiatives at the Rhode Island Institute for Design. He has more than 20 years of experience in higher education.

A $5 million gift to DePauw from Allan B. and Kathryn F. Hubbard (Class of 1974), announced in November 2012, created the Kathryn Fortune Hubbard Center for Student Engagement.

One of the first of its kind at a leading national liberal arts college, the Hubbard Center underscores the university's fundamental commitment to ensuring that every student is advised and supported in each of the three primary components of their student experience: academic life, student life and co-curricular life.

In his new role at Denison, Bellani will help oversee and implement a $10 million Sherman Fairchild grant that is designed to support the implementation of a five-year strategic plan the board of trustees approved in May 2015.

"DePauw thanks Dean Bellani for his critical role in making the Hubbard Center a vital part of campus life and creating clear pathways for student success at DePauw and throughout life," President Brian W. Casey said. "His contributions have been impactful."
