Barbara Jean Pitt

Barbara Jean Pitt, 83, of Greencastle, passed on to heaven, Saturday, April 9, 2016 surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 24, 1932 in Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her "Mommy" and "Daddy," her oldest daughter Cathy, and her oldest sister Joan.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Pitt; son Mark Pitt (wife Linda) and daughter Diane Gardner (husband Danny); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two younger sisters, Noelene and Janice; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Greencastle since 2001 and ran its local food pantry for many years.

In lieu of flowers the family would like those so inclined to perform a random act of kindness in her honor. If one may feel so moved to donate monetarily, please do so to Riley Children's Hospital in honor of her great-grandchildren whom have received wonderful life-saving care from there.
