Zenobia Adelman, 93, formerly of Greencastle, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 9 in Irmo, S.C., on Saturday, April 9, 2016.

Zenobia was born on Aug. 19, 1922 in Three Rivers, Mich., to Clark and Catherine Beck. She graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1941.

She married Ora Rush Adelman in 1943. They lived in Three Rivers until 1954, when they moved to Florida.

Zenobia worked for many years at the Telephone Company in Three Rivers and for Banker's Life and Casualty Insurance Co. in Florida.

In later years, she worked until she retired at 84 as a file clerk in the Putnam County Courthouse in Greencastle. She was honored as the county's oldest employee on her 80th birthday.

She was an avid and accomplished painter in her early years.

After retirement, Zenobia and Rush traveled the U.S. extensivel.

She attended New Life Community Church of Irmo and was an active and dedicated member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Zenobia is survived by her daughter Claudia Williams, also of Irmo, and her grandson Dean Williams and wife Angela of Beaufort, S.C. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Alan, Sarah, Laura, Alexander and Jackson Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ora Rush Adelman, brothers LeBart and Elwin Beck and a sister Carmelita Dean.

A memorial service is scheduled in South Carolina.
