New location announced for April's 'Dine with a Doc'

Thursday, April 14, 2016

Senior Education Ministries Inc. has scheduled a Dine with a Doc session Monday, April 25 (the fourth Monday of each month) at the Area 30, located at 1 N. Calbert Way, Suite A in Greencastle.

By special request, Madeleine Durham Thomas will be this month's guest speaker.

Thomas is a licensed and certified speech pathologist originally from Greencastle. She has developed a model for mental fitness that is currently in use at several senior and assisted-living centers throughout the state.

With 31 years of hospital and clinical experience, Thomas has evaluated and treated patients with dysphagia, aphasia, dysarthia, apraxia and cognitive-linguistic deficits which result from neurological impairments. She is currently self-employed and works privately with head trauma and stroke patients while expanding "Mind Fit 4 Life."

Dine with a Doc is a free community-based program that welcomes local seniors to hear an educational topic while enjoying a complimentary lunch -- no money required. Senior Education Ministries Inc. simply requests that attendents bring a questioning mind, an appetite and perhaps a friend.

This community program has been realized through the combined efforts of a doctor, a lunch sponsor, the senior community, local churches and multiple area businesses coming together for everyone's benefit.

Each doctor has donated his or her time in an effort to listen, hear and answer any medical questions while sharing a meal. Various community businesses are also participating by donating door prizes and/or the complimentary lunch while discussing their involvement.

A question-and-answer period will follow the discussion.
