CRAWFORDSVILLE-- Big hits and big runs led to a big win for the Greencastle softball team who traveled to Crawfordsville the night before the Putnam County Tournament.

The Tiger Cubs came up big Friday ,winning 16-5 in six innings after its 15-8 loss to West Vigo.

Greencastle coach Tabitha Briones said her team was been working on different aspects of the game this week and it certainly paid off against the Athenians.

"Brynne Shuee did a good job first time behind the plate," Briones said. "As a team we worked on hitting more balls out of the infield. Defensively we played well together."

The Tiger Cubs will have to turn it around and play potentially two games at home for the Putnam County Tournament.

"I'm glad we had an opportunity the night before," Briones said. "It allowed us to work on things against a live offense and defense."

GHS will play against North Putnam first at the county tournament.
