The Greencastle Civic League has announced its second mural project will be taking place at the Putnam County Public Library.

The Greencastle Civic League will begin installing its second mural beginning Saturday, April 23 at the library.

Any and all community members of all ages and of all skill levels are invited to join the Civic League in the endeavor.

The mural will be located above the circulation desk in the main lobby (approximately 15-20 feet high). The mural will celebrate the library's history while giving a nod to the technological advances of the library's future. Through three "jazzy" and "stylized" words, it invites library patrons to Read, Think and Create.

All volunteers are welcome to participate in this community project. Those interested can reach out to volunteer coordinator Amy Felling at amyfelling12@gmail.com.

It is the second mural for the Greencastle Civic League. Greencastle Blossoms was installed in October 2015 on the north side of the building that is home to Eitel's & Co. Florist.

Civic League members hope to install more murals throughout Greencastle, ultimately bringing beauty and art to the city through the establishment of a mural walk for residents of and visitors to Greencastle to enjoy for years to come.

The project is made possible through the donations of paint from Headley Hardware and a lift from Jerry Lewis of Greencastle Heavy Equipment.

The Greencastle Civic League's purpose is the beautification, clean-up, cultural development and general improvement of life in Greencastle, Indiana. The organization sponsors annual clean-up of city roads and the Fair Parade route, supports floral plantings around the courthouse square, and convenes the summer ParkFest music series.

Past major projects include support for the purchase of a fire truck by the Greencastle Fire Department, the building of Emerald Palace at Robe-Ann Park, and creation of the Bob York Memorial Splash Park at the Greencastle Aquatic Center.
