Seventh-grade Lady Clovers win a pair

Big offense and strong pitching have led the seventh grade softball team at Clovedale Middle School to a pair of recent victories.

Most recently, the Clovers topped Edgewood 15-2 on Tuesday.

Phoebe McDonald had a single, double and two RBIs. Emma Haywood had two singles and one RBI, while Ashlynn Basore had a double and two RBIs. Emma Manion posted two singles with three RBIs.

"The girls really had their bats working tonight," coach Royse said.

On Thursday, April 14, the Clovers downed Clay City 13-2.

Hailey Gardner pitched three innings with no walks and five strikeoutss, while catcher Autumn Lewellen threw out two girls at second base.

The offense was led by Skylynn Lowe with a triple and one RBI, Basore with a double and two RBIs and Aubree Brannigan with a single.

"We still have a lot to work on but it's early," Royse said. "This win will help with their confidence."
