Jake Bennett

ished fifth in the Bob Arnett Invitational tourney on Saturday hosted by Terre Haute South at Rea Park.

Jake Bennett shot a 79 to lead the Tiger Cubs, finishing tied for 10th overall. Greencastle coach Steve Paquin notes one specific part of the tourney as keeping his team from finishing higher.

"The back nine continues to cause us problems, as we scored 10 shots higher on the back than on the front [173 vs 163]," he said. "I think fatigue on the closing holes and confidence lowers when our players have some adversity on the back nines."

Paquin was pleased with his team's performance against a tough field.

"We played some excellent golf at times then lost focus and played poorly at times," he said. "Finishing fifth against some very big schools shows we have the potential to be very competitive with most teams."

Jake Buis shot an 82 to place second for the Tiger Cubs, with an excellent 37 on the front. "He had some tree trouble on the back," Paquin noted.

The Tiger Cubs will return to Rea Park today at 4:45 for a dual match against Terre Haute South, which won Saturday's event by two strokes over Brownsburg and Northview.
