Farmers' Market to open Saturday

Sunday, May 1, 2016

The Greencastle Farmers' Market starts its eighth season on the square in downtown Greencastle on Saturday, May 7.

Everyone is invited to celebrate the end of winter and let their favorite farmers know they are appreciated for providing fresh local food.

New faces and products will be apparent at the market this year, including the "Downtown DoNut Shop" and many returning vendors.

This week Issac Loya will provide musical entertainment featuring his original songs and acoustic covers of folk and rock classics.

Buzzi Unicem USA and Putnam County Families in Nature are teaming up with the market to give away free trees, so visitors are advised to come early to take advantage of that opportunity to beautify the community.

SNAP customers are welcome at the market, which is an authorized Hoosier Works/SNAP EBT retailer.

All May markets will open at 9 a.m. and close at noon.
