The Aktion Club of Putnam County recently conducted a Lucky Leprechaun Raffle to raise money for the Cloverdale Emerald Command High School Band to assist with its upcoming trip to Washington, D.C.

On Tuesday, April 19 the band came to Putnam County Comprehensive Services and was presented a check for $282.

The band expresses its thanks to the Aktion group by playing several songs for the club.

The CHS Band was nominated by Congressman Todd Rokita to represent Indiana at the Washington, D.C., Fourth of July parade this year. The band is practicing hard and it is in full preparation for Washington D.C., but they still need more financial support.

The band has established a Go Fund Me Page, www.gofundme.com/cloverdaleeband, to accept contributions.

The Kiwanis Aktion Club is a local club whose members are adults with disabilities. The group is sponsored by the local Greencastle Kiwanis Club and Putnam County Comprehensive Services.

Members are dedicated to providing philanthropic services to the community, state, country and even globally. One of its many service projects is to hold local fundraisers for organizations or individuals in need. Putnam County Aktion Club has announced it has reached one of its yearly fundraising goals by helping the Cloverdale Emerald Command High School Band. Other recent outreach efforts have included making Valentine's for local nursing homes, and filling Easter eggs for the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt.

Currently, the Aktion Club is seeking assistance in collecting plastic bottle lids (any plastic lid -- pop bottle lids, laundry lids, etc.) so an outdoor bench can be built for the new PCCS addition. Persons may drop off lids at the agency Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Thank you for your support of our Emerald Command! It is a once in a lifetime deal for our kids, it will be a humbling experience and one that will remain with them for the rest of their lives!
