County Jail

Several people have been booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 10:45 a.m. on Friday, Ryan Jay Lentz, 42, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a warrant for nonsupport of a dependent.

At 2:17 p.m. Brystion Jamal Lewis, 27, Anderson, was arrested for possession of marijuana and on a warrant.

At 6:45 p.m. William Wayne Johansen, 60, Danville, was charged with disorderly conduct and probation violation.

At 8:16 p.m. Bruce Lee Artis, 42, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a warrant for contempt of court.

At 10:50 p.m. Taureen Kyron Terry, 34, Greencastle, was booked in for criminal trespassing.

* At 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, Crystal Gail Morphew-Costin, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine and on a warrant for receiving stolen property.

* At 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, Kenneth Vern Sargent, 21, Greencastle, lodged at the jail for reckless driving, operating while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement.

* At 9:07 a.m. on Monday, Jeremiah Owen Hubbell, 38, Greencastle, was arrested for fraud/issuance of bad checks and false informing.

At 12:30 p.m. George Bell Jr., 62, Shelbyville, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

At 2:15 p.m. Da'Mikio Gilbert, 18, Chicago, was charged with trespassing.

At 5:10 p.m. Hanna Lee Jones, 30, Greencastle, was booked in on a warrant.

At 6 p.m. Melissa Ann Welch, 45, Coatesville, was taken into custody on a warrant.

At 8:21 p.m. Corey Duff Jr., 19, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

At 8:50 p.m. Cody Starr Gibson, 31, Bainbridge, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

* At 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Bruce Mendenhall, 52, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated and traffic violations.

City Police

A 38-year-old Greencastle man is facing five charges after being arrested Monday evening on the city's East Side

* At 8 p.m. Shannon Ray Barger was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing, resisting law enforcement, criminal mischief, public intoxication and disorderly conduct/urinating in public.

Barger was arrested in the 1100 block of Avenue C by Officer Matt Huffman.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Barger registered a .09 percent blood-alcohol level at the time of arrest.

Meanwhile, a Greencastle teenager will be summoned into court on a possession of marijuana charge following his arrest Sunday night.

* At 10:45 p.m., Jarrod Goebel, 18, was arrested at a Castlebury Apartments residence by Officer Zach Rhine.

One recent speeding citation was issued by city officers.

* At 5:18 p.m. Monday, Hayley Yeley, 21, Danville, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Yeley was citing for 55 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County sheriff's deputies investigated six recent property-damage accidents.

* At 7:29 p.m. on Sunday, Anthony G. Cupps, 17, Reelsville, was southbound on County Road 300 West near County Road 1075 South in a 1999 Ford Windstar.

Cupps told Deputy Mike Downing a northbound vehicle crossed into his lane and he swerved to the right to avoid the impact, hitting a mailbox and coming to rest in a ditch.

A wrecker removed the vehicle from the ditch, but it was driven from the scene.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

* At 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, Donald L. Hardesty, 29, Brazil, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 1998 Mercury Tracer.

Hardesty told Capt. Tom Helmer he apparently fell asleep due to bright sunlight.

The car drifted left of center, across the northbound lane and exited the road on the east side. Continuing southeast, it hit a ditch and a fence before entering a cornfield and hitting another section of fence.

The vehicle then turned back onto the shoulder and came to rest in the ditch.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, Angel M. Butler, 39, Cloverdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 near County Road 800 South in a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle when she hit a deer.

Deputy Downing estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500. The car was towed.

* At 2:55 a.m. on Sunday, Rex C. Scott, 63, Clinton, was eastbound on U.S. 36 west of U.S. 231 in a 2000 GMC Sierra when he hit a deer.

Deputy Riley Houghton estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000. The truck was towed.

* At 3:26 p.m. on Saturday, Kody A. Dirickson, 21, Reelsville, was eastbound on County Road 525 South in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu.

Dirickson told Reserved Deputy Rick Lambert he hit a deer as he rounded a curve.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 5:46 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, Andrew L. Neiner, 32, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 125 West near County Road 300 South in a 2000 Ford F250.

Neiner told Deputy Downing he drove off the east side of the road, hitting a mailbox and returning to the road.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
