Cloverdale, North Putnam win final WCC junior high track meets

CLAYTON -- The four Putnam County middle schools and Cascade got together on Saturday for the final West Central Conference junior high track meet.

Cloverdale won the girls' event, while North Putnam claimed the boys' title.

The Clovers racked up 105 points behind four-event winner Kenzie Stoltz, who won the high jump, long jump, 100-meter dash and was on the winning 4x100 relay team with teammates Kammie Monnett, Lakkain Price and Grace Leonard.

Stoltz set a WCC record in the 100 meters with a time of 13.75.

South Putnam's girls had six winners as Lulu Vanihel, Lily Vittetow and Bree Mahoney-Sutherland each had two first-place finishes.

Greencastle's only individual winner was Emmy Huber in the 400.

North Putnam had two individual winners, Reghan Christy in the 200 and Hannah Sims, setting a WCC record of 16.48 in the 100 hurdles.

The Cougars' boys team led the meet with seven individual winners, led by Scott Proctor with wins in the 100, 200 and the 110 hurdles..

Also winning for the Cougars were Kyle Young in the 400, Adam Ammons in the shot put, Payton Patterson in discus and Corbin Catt in high jump.

South Putnam placed second as Steven Schnepp won the 2,400, 800 and anchored the 4x400 relay featuring teammates Kain Gregory, Brach Carrington and Karl Egold. Egold also won the 1,600.

Dakota Campbell won the long jump for third-place Greencastle.
