Domestic disturbance call yields marijuana discovery by GPD

Wednesday afternoon Greencastle City Police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Sycamore Street in reference to a reported verbal domestic.

Items confiscated by Greencastle officers from Sycamore Street residence Wednesday afternoon.

During the course of the investigation officers received information of possible drug activity occurring within the residence, and officers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the home.

Officers subsequently applied for and were granted a search warrant of the premises.

When the search warrant was served, officers located approximately one pound of marijuana, multiple articles of paraphernalia and $876 in currency, along with an assault rifle complete with a high-capacity magazine.

However, no arrests had been made as of Thursday morning.

Assisting Officer Lee were Officer Nick Eastham, Capt. Chris Jones, Capt. Randy Seipel, Sgt. Ed Wilson and Officer Darrel Bunten.

The case remains under investigation by Officer Lee.

  • Let me get this straight. Go to the house to investigate a domestic situation. Smell weed. Get warrant. Search yields weed, a gun, money, scales, weed packaging materials. 5 officers involved and no arrests made. No warrants issued either I suppose. Who owns or rents the house? Who lives there? My inquiring mind wants to know.
