Melvin 'M.R.' Berry

Melvin "M.R." Berry, 67, Bellmore, died at 7:10 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2016 at his residence.

Born May 10, 1949 in Clinton, Ind., he was the son of Melvin R. Berry Sr. and Marceil Harney Berry Chapman.

He married Donna Gerrish on Sept. 19, 1974.

He previously worked at Parke County REMC, retired from farming and retired from truck-driving for Stanley J. Clark and Walmart, where he earned several safety awards.

He loved his Harley motorcycles, farming, horses and spending time with his friends and family.

M.R. especially adored and loved his grandchildren.

A 1967 Rockville High School graduate, he served in the Air Force National Guard.

Mr. Berry was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Marceil Harney Berry Chapman of Rockville; three children, Christy Black (Ronnie), Roachdale, and Dale Berry (Shannon) and Roxy Jackson (Matt), both of Rockville; eight grandchildren, Cody Ensor, Keely, Til and Bree Black, Nicholas and Blaine Goings, and Couy and Greyson Berry; three sisters, Susie Wimmer (Max), Marcia Akers (Ronnie) and Marilynn Unger (Jay C); a brother, Frank Berry; a stepsister, Brenda (John) Irelan; a stepbrother, Mike Chapman (Tammy); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Melvin Berry Sr.; stepdad Theoren Chapman; sister Carolynn Berry; stepbrother Greg Chapman; and stepsister Cathy Rubush.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3 at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, 111 E. High St., Rockville, where visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 2.

Burial will be in Beacon Hill Cemetery, Rockville.
