Free Fishing Weekend

Thursday, June 2, 2016

This weekend is the last chance in 2016 for adults to fish for free in Indiana.

June 4 and 5 are the final two days of four Free Fishing Days this year.

Indiana residents who are age 18 and older can fish public waters without needing a fishing license or a trout stamp on those days.

Free Fishing Weekend is an opportunity to take someone fishing who doesn't already have a license. It's also a great time to teach families how to fish because adults don't need a license on those days, and kids younger than age 18 never need a license.

Area properties hosting events on Saturday include:

-- Cagles Mill Lake (Lieber State Recreation Area), Cloverdale, (765) 795-3552.

-- Cecil M. Harden Lake (Raccoon SRA), Rockville, (765) 344-1412.

-- Monroe Lake (Paynetown SRA), Bloomington, (812) 837-9967.

-- Shakamak State Park, Jasonville, (812) 665-2158.

-- Sodalis Nature Park, Plainfield, (765) 676-5437.

-- Shades State Park, Waveland, (765) 597-2654.
