County Jail

Three people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday.

* At 11:51 a.m. Jacob Raymond Archer, 38, Greencastle, was arrested for domestic battery.

* At 1:32 p.m. John Paul Alexander, 19, Fredericksburg, was charged with battery.

* At 8:37 p.m. Patricia Ann Colantonio, 25, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 5:01 a.m. Wednesday, Kraig Anthony Zeronik, 31, Greencastle, was arrested by Capt. Charles Inman for driving while intoxicated.

Stopped on South Indiana Street, Zeronik was lodged in the Putnam **County Jail

After refusing a portable breath test at the scene, he registered a .14 percent blood-alcohol content later at the jail.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old Greencastle man will be summoned into court on drug-related charges after he was stopped on Howard Street by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Jerry Inabnit is facing charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia in the 10:25 p.m. incident Wednesday.

One recent citation was issued by city officers.

* At 11:10 p.m. Thursday, Timothy Watson, 52, Cloverdale, was ticketed by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Stopped on Percy Julian Drive, Watson was cited for having an expired license plate (Oct. 28, 2015).

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County sheriff's deputies responded to three recent property-damage crashes.

* At 5:11 a.m. on Friday, Angel L. Stidd, 25, Greencastle, was eastbound on Airport Road just west of County Road 250 East in a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Stidd told Deputy Riley Houghton she swerved left to avoid a raccoon and left the road, going through a barbed wire fence.

She was able to drive out of the ditch and continue to her destination.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* A Greencastle man was arrested Thursday morning after a single-vehicle crash in Cloverdale Township.

At 2:38 a.m. Mark Flinchum, 26, was southbound on State Road 243 near the entrance of Lieber State Park in a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro.

He told Deputy Mike Downing a deer ran into his path. Unable to stop, he swerved left, ran off the road, through a ditch and struck multiple trees.

The driver further explained that he did not have a cell phone so he walked southbound on 243 until someone picked him up.

Flinchum later tested at .09 blood alcohol content on a certified test. He was booked in at 7:33 a.m. on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

Cloverdale Fire Department helped clean up the debris. The vehicle was towed.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 10:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Nancy Fellows, 57, Mecca, was eastbound on U.S. 36 near County Road 600 West in a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo when she hit a deer.

Deputy Downing estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to six dispatches and six medical assists.

* At 4:53 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 106 S. Spring St.

* At 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to reports of a gas leak at the intersection of Hanna Street and College Avenue, performing an odor investigation in reponse. Construction equipment in the area had struck a large, high-pressure gas line which was ultimately "taken care of."

* At 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to reports of smoke in the area of Woodhaven Street. GFD determined the smoke to have been produced by a grill and disregarded the alarm.

* At 6:52 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to and extinguished an unauthorized burn at 3709 S. County Road 300 E. GFD subsequently advised the owner of authorized burning procedures and returned to station.

* At 5:17 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a motor-vehicle accident involving a three-wheeler ATV at 200 West, just south of West Walnut Street. GFD reported that it was unclear if another vehicle was involved, only that the operator of the ATV was thrown from the vehicle.

* At 9:31 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to an unauthorized burn at 913 N. Madison St. Upon investigation, GFD determined the residents to have been adhering to guidelines after all. GFD deemed the burn "authorized" as no rules were broken.
